Greenville Attorney Indicted On Resisting Charge

Greenville Attorney David Sutton has now been indicted by a grand jury, for the second time this year.

The indictment stems from the November 15th disturbance in the Pitt County Courthouse. WITN was stationed at the security checkpoint that day waiting to video another person when Sutton walked through the checkpoint.

An arrest warrant says Sutton refused to stop, "pulling away from Deputy Bridges, refusing to allow himself to be handcuffed." It says Bridges was working a courthouse security checkpoint at the time.

A grand jury indicted Sutton on the resisting charge on Monday.

This summer the attorney was arrested and later indicted on a witness intimidation charge. Part of his bond included modified access to certain secure parts of the courthouse, which is given to local attorneys.
