Gov. McCrory Waives Utility Truck Limits As Crews Head North

Gov. Pat McCrory has signed an executive order waiving the usual vehicle size restrictions for utility trucks traveling through North Carolina to help with efforts to restore power in the wake of the Mid-Atlantic winter storm.

A statement from McCrory's office said utility companies from as far away as Georgia and Alabama have already been dispatched to help restore power to areas impacted by the storm.

McCrory said the state is glad to do whatever it can to help utility workers in their efforts to aid in recovery from the storm.

A storm system that originated in Montana was expected to reach Washington, D.C., Tuesday night. As the storm pushed toward the Mid-Atlantic region, people there were gathering supplies and airlines were canceling flights.
