Friday Is Deadline To Register For Primary Election

North Carolinians have until Friday to register so they can vote in next month's primary election.

In previous years you could do what was called "one-stop voting", register and vote on the same day ahead of the actual election day. But state lawmakers changed that so that you have to register at least 25 days before the election.

You can register at any DMV office, or at your county board of elections office.

The legislature also is allowing counties to reduce the number of days allowed for early voting, just as long as they keep to total number of hours. That period starts April 24th.

The new photo ID law does not take effect until 2016.
