Free Lunch Offered Through Onslow County Schools

No lunch money required as Summer Food Rocks starts this week at one Jacksonville school.

Summer Food Rocks is a free lunch program offered by Onslow County Schools for all school aged children under the age of 18.

Starting June 23rd and through August 15th, children can get a free, nutritious lunch at Clyde Erwin Elementary Magnet School. The meal is served between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Onslow County Partnership For Children suggests this is a good way to also introduce kindergarteners to school cafeterias while also offsetting the summer food bill for parents.

From June 30th through August 15th, Blue Creek Elementary will serve lunches from 11 a.m. until noon.

The program also extends to Hunters Creek Elementary June 30th - August 15th. Lunch will be served between 11 a.m. and noon at that location.

The program runs Monday through Thursday. Schools are closed Fridays.
