Free Food Bags Distributed In Pamlico County

Dozens of families received a much needed helping hand from the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina Monday.

Pamlico County Schools and the Junior ROTC teamed up with the food bank to distribute 180 bags of groceries to families in need at Fred Anderson Elementary in Bayboro Monday afternoon.

Food bank employees say the need for food goes up in the summer when kids are out of school and unable to receive free or reduced cost meals at school.

Thousands of pounds of bread, fresh produce, and packaged groceries were trucked in to Bayboro where people from all across the county were welcome to it.
