School officials say four students were injured at a Pitt County elementary school this morning by a classmate.
School system spokesman Brock Letchworth says a third grader at Lakeforest Elementary School took part of the pencil sharpener in a classroom and injured four children. He described the injuries as scrapes for two students and scratches for the other two.
It happened around 11:10 a.m. and Letchworth says the students were treated by school personnel and not transported to the hospital.
Letchworth says the principal is trying to determine what type of discipline they should take against the child. He says police were not called to the school and all parents involved were notified.
The children have since resumed normal activity at the school.
