Four Kinston High Students Charged With False Threats At Two High Schools

Four Kinston High School students were charged Monday for calling in false threats to two Lenoir County high schools on Friday.

Kinston police say Jaquell Lawson and Alexis Whitfield, both who are 16, were charged with misdemeanor misuse of the 911 system. Two 15 year olds were also served with juvenile petitions in the case.

On Friday, South Lenoir High School was placed on lockdown shortly after 1:00 p.m. when the Lenoir County 911 Center received multiple calls about a shooting on the high school campus. Calls were made about a shooting at Kinston High School as well.

Police discovered all of the calls originated from Kinston High School.

Police say their investigation is continuing and more charges are pending.
