A forum about fish has some people headed from the coast to the capitol today.
The legislation that's reeling people to Raleigh today is a bill that would grant gamefish status to speckled trout, red drum, and striped bass.
We're seeing pushback against the bill from some here in the east, the president of the Ocracoke Working Watermen Association says giving these types of fish "gamefish status" would have a, "devastating impact on commercial fishing families' income and eliminate availability of these three species to all consumers - NC residents, restaurants, tourists, and seafood retail markets."
We'll keep you posted on this legislation.
