Former Teachers Aid Charged With Assaulting Handicapped Student

A former teachers aid has been arrested for assaulting a handicapped student here in Eastern Carolina.

Halifax County deputies charged Dozine Jones of Enfield with assaulting a handicapped person. The 54-year-old woman worked at Northwest High School and deputies say the alleged assault happened last June. They say the victim received minor bruising to the leg which was spotted by the medical staff at the victim's group home.

Jones, who was fired in October from her job, was given a $1,000 bond and has a January 23rd court date.
