A former high school teacher has finally been charged for having sexual relations with a student.
Emily Efird was a teacher at James Kenan High School in Duplin County, but quit after the allegations came to light in April.
The 31-year-old Efird is charged with three counts of sex offense with a student, two counts of indecent liberties and one count of crime against nature.
She was arrested Tuesday and released on a $25,000 bond.
Sheriff Blake Wallace says his investigators are still trying to determine if there any more victims.
The school system released the following statement:
"Duplin County Schools became aware of an allegation of an inappropriate teacher-student relationship on April 8. The teacher was immediately suspended and resigned one week later. We trust the judicial system will address this matter."
