Less food is being provided to families in Beaufort county as demand has increased about 60 percent since last year.
The Eagle's Wings food pantry in Washington hopes to replenish its shelves as the next holiday rolls around.
Executive Director Sally Love says November is their busiest month, but all year has been tough.
Since October they've had to decrease the amount of food they could provide to families to help stretch their donations. Love says, "Were doing about 150 families each week. It's the economy. People are still losing their jobs. The country is starting to turn around but Eastern North Carolina is the last to improve."
Families are still able to come once a week and get an adequate amount of food to feed their families.
Love says they can stretch monetary donations more than actual food donations since they can purchase food for less.
