On and off quick downpours will be possible through Sunday afternoon. Heavier rain could bring another 1 to 3 inches of rain to a few locations late Sunday and into Monday afternoon.
2 to 3 inches of rainfall Monday night across Pitt county has prompted a
flood warning along the Chicod Creek near Simpson.
At 4:00 pm Tuesday the creek stage was at 10.7 feet. The flood stage is 10.0 feet. The river level will slowly fall below flood stage later this week. The warning will stay in effect until the creek falls below flood stage, probably by late in the week.
Be careful around the creek over the coming days. The water may rise another 1 to 2 feet over the next 24 to 48 hours. At 12 feet water begins to run over Mobleys Bridge road.
