Fisherman Who Died In Duplin County Pond Identified As Kinston Man

The name of a fisherman who died in a Duplin County pond Thursday night has been released.

Sheriff Blake Wallace says 70-year-old Solomon Henderson of Kinston died in the accident at Maxwell's Mill Pond outside of Pink Hill.

Wallace says that it appears Henderson had been on a kayak fishing when he fell out.

We're told that Pink Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue responded around 6 p.m. and tried to revive man, but he died at the scene.

Wallace says it will be up to the medical examiner whether or not to conduct an autopsy.
