NEW INFO: Hubert House Fire Intentionally Set

By  |

Fire investigators say a fire at a house overnight was intentionally set.

Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Chief Brian Romans said four stations were called out to a home on Oregon Trail in Hubert around 2:15 a.m. Thursday.

Once firefighters were able to knock down the flames, Romans said an initial investigation showed someone may have tried to force their way into the home.

Upon further investigation, crews said it appears the fire started in the living room, but only caused minor damage.

Onslow County Fire Marshal Brian Kelly confirms the fire was intentionally set. He said no one was at the home at the time because the homeowner is in the process of moving out.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Four different fire departments were called out to knock down flames at a Hubert home Thursday morning.

Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department Chief, Brian Romans, told WITN around 2:15 Thursday morning, firefighters were called to an abandoned home on fire along Oregon Trail near the intersection of Timber Ridge Drive.

Chief Romans said it appears someone forced their way into the home and the fire started in the living room.

Onslow County deputies were called out to secure the scene as Fire Marshal Brian Kelly investigates.

An official cause of the fire has not yet been released, but no injuries have been reported.

Romans said four fire crews were called out to battle the flames, including Bear Creek, Piney Green, Hubert, and Swansboro.
