Fired Duke-Progress CEO To Lead TVA

The former head of Progress Energy who was fired as CEO of Duke Energy is the new chief executive of the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Bill Johnson was ousted on the first day that Progress and Duke merged this summer.

The Tennessee Valley Authority board this morning chose Johnson to succeed retiring Tom Kilgore as the chief executive of the government utility.

At a news conference in Knoxville Monday, TVA said Johnson was chosen from among more than 70 applicants to TVA's top job.
