Five apartments were impacted by a fire Friday evening at a Greenville apartment complex.

The fire at South Square Apartments was reported around 5:25 p.m. The apartment complex is on Patton Circle, which is off of Reedy Branch Road.

The fire was put out shortly after 6 p.m.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire was unattended cooking.

There were no injuries.

The apartment where the fire happened is uninhabitable. Other apartments had smoke and water damage.

The fire department says units from both Greenville and Winterville were called to the scene.

The property manager told WITN that five apartment units were affected by the blaze. He estimates that it will take several months to make the needed repairs.
