Farmer Killed By Overturned Tractor

A farmer was killed Friday morning after troopers say he was pinned underneath his overturned tractor.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. off Corn Mill Road, southwest of Beulaville on the man's family farm.

Troopers say Richard Maready was trying to pull metal around a tree stump with a chain attached to the tractor when the front end of it went up and then rolled on its side. The man was pinned and died at the scene.

The Highway Patrol says after not hearing the tractor, the 54-year-old man's wife sent someone to check on him and discovered the accident.
