Family Hopes Banner In Pitt County Leads to Hit & Run Driver

Almost five months after their son was killed in a hit and run accident while walking on Highway 33 in Pitt County, the parents of Austin Baeza are still looking for answers.

Austin was killed on August 18th just outside of Greenville, but the driver of the vehicle that hit him has never come forward.

In hopes of gaining more awareness, the family is putting up a large roadside banner of Austin at the crash site.

Austin's mother Nicolette says she has a gut feeling that the person who hit her son, is local. "We want the person that did this to see his face, and drive by here and think wow, I just decimated somebody's family by my irresponsibility."

In addition the family raised the reward to $11,500.

The family will meet Saturday morning at the Pitt County Sheriff's Office at 10:00 a.m. before heading out to neighborhoods near the crash site with fliers.
