Equine Products Company Buys Closed Kinston Mill Site

An Ireland company has purchased a vacant textile plant, with plans to combine its local operations.

Horseware Products Limited purchased the old Oneita Industries Building on Highway 11 in Kinston for just under $1,000,000, according to tax records.

The company, which manufactures and distributes horse blankets and equine products, already has locations in Kinston and LaGrange.

A company spokeswoman says they current employ between 25 and 30 people, and hopes to eventually expand after renovating and moving into the Highway 11 location in April or May of next year.

The 115,000 square foot building has been vacant for more than 10 years when it was a knitting mill.

Meanwhile, there is renewed activity at another closed mill across the street. Moen, which has a plant in Kinston, is using that facility as a warehouse.
