Employee Charged With Using Stolen Credit Card Number To Pay His Bills

An employee of a Pitt County business is accused of stealing a credit card number and then using it 18 different times, including paying some of his own bills.

Jerry Carroll of Greenville is charged with embezzlement, 18 counts of identity theft and 18 counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

Deputies say Carroll worked at Interstate Battery and stole a customer's credit card number while working.

They say between August 4 and September 1st he made various purchases with the number, and even used it to pay his bills.

Deputies say Carroll confessed when confronted. He's jailed on a $250,000 bond.
