Elizabeth II Will Not Dock In Edenton Until End Of Month

The Elizabeth II will not be in Edenton this weekend.

Officials report that unfortunately, adverse weather at the Outer Banks and the Albemarle Sound has prevented her from sailing.

The visit has been rescheduled for October 25 and 26.

The Elizabeth II is about to set sail to help Edenton celebrate its 300th anniversary.

The ship is scheduled to sail from Roanoke Island Festival Park on Wednesday. The voyage is sponsored by the Friends of Elizabeth II and Southern Bank Foundation.

Once the Elizabeth II reached Edenton, it will host local school children on Friday and the general public on Saturday while docked on the waterfront at Edenton Harbor.

Edenton is celebrating its 300th anniversary through December. The town served as the first Colonial Capital until 1743.
