Elementary Schools In Onslow County Getting Community Officers

Elementary schools in Onslow County will soon have police officers visiting every day.

The decision was announced this morning as school resource officers were training for the upcoming school year.

It's in response to last December's deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut where twenty children and six adults were killed.

SROs are already in place at middle and high schools in Onslow County.

Now, community officers will visit the 19 elementary schools in the county every day.
