An elderly woman was airlifted to a Greenville hospital after a car crash this afternoon in Beaufort County.
The accident happened just after noon on Gilead Shores Road, that's east of Chocowinity.
The Highway Patrol says Nina Forrest's vehicle ran off the right side of the road, crossed the center line and then ran off the left side where she overcorrected, and ran off the right side of the road. The woman's car hit a ditch and a tree.
Sgt. Kevin Respass says the 80-year-old woman is in serious condition at Vidant Medical Center. He says a medical condition caused the accident.
