Edenton Offers Sneak Peek Of Historic Roanoke River Lighthouse

Before putting the finishing touches on its lighthouse, the town of Edenton is offering the community a special sneak peek of the observatory before it opens next week.

In honor of National Lighthouse Day, the Historic Edenton State Historic Site is giving the community the chance to get a sneak peek of the Roanoke River Lighthouse Thursday.

The sneak peek event will be start 9 a.m. at Colonial Park. There, staff of the HESHS will talk about the building and the restoration process of the tower.

Those attending this free event will be able to take a tour inside the building before finishing touches are completed from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

After years of waiting for its restoration, the lighthouse will officially open next Friday following a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The building will be open for tours beginning next Saturday.
