Early voting may be nearing an end, but there was still a steady stream of people making their way to the polls Friday.

Pitt County Board of Elections director Dave Davis says nearly 46,000 ballots had been cast as of Friday night. That's about 2,000 votes short of 2008, but Davis says he expects large crowds of voters on Saturday, which is the last day to vote early.

Early voting ends Saturday at 1:00 p.m. If you miss that deadline you'll have to vote Tuesday at your assigned polling place. Absentee ballots must be turned into local election boards by Monday or postmarked by Tuesday.
