EPA Money Approved For Cleanup Of Imperial Site In Greenville

Federal money is headed to Greenville to help cleanup areas where there are environmental concerns.

The EPA has awarded Greenville $400,000 to help fund the cleanup of the former Imperial Tobacco outparcel property and the former Imperial Tobacco Warehouse property on Atlantic Avenue.

The parcels are part of a larger property that operated as a tobacco processing plant from about 1900 to 1977.

The city plans to redevelop the site that will be a mixed-use area for the arts, restaurants, residential, and also include a cultural district.
