East Carolina University tested its emergency alert system Friday for the first time this school year, as the second largest class of freshmen continue to move into the dorms.
ECU officials say, in the event of an emergency on campus, students will hear the alarm and every television in every building will run the alert across the screen. Students will also receive a text and an email letting them know what's going on and what precautions to take.
ECU officials say they test the alert frequently throughout the school year, and it's important to do the first test as the new pirates move onto campus.
