ECU Steps Up Security For Pigskin Pig-Out Events

East Carolina University Police are bumping up security for the annual Pigskin Pig-Out and Saturday's Purple/ Gold Spring Football Game.

They expect a crowd of thousand this year after more than 7,000 people attended the Pigskin Pig-Out events and Purple/ Gold game last year.

Officials say they are taking extra precautions this year in light of the bombings in Boston Monday. Lt. Chris Sutton with ECU Police said officers will set up a command center to monitor cameras around the stadium and communicate with other officers working the event.

"It's important that you're aware and you do your part, and if you see something that's alarming to you or that makes you uneasy that you notify a police officer or some other official so that some other eyes can be put on it and some kind of investigation, even if it's something very simple, can be done." said Lt. Sutton
