Don't be alarmed if you hear or get alerts from Elizabeth City State University Wednesday.
Elizabeth City State University says it will be testing its emergency alert system at 3 p-m Wednesday which is used in the event of a tornado, violent storm or violent incident.
University police will activate a series of tones on campus. Test alert messages will also be sent out to university email accounts and text messages sent to registered cell phones.
