NEW INFO: Rose Hill Fire Set, Man Arrested For Attempted Murder

Deputies in Duplin County say they've arrested a man they believe set a house on fire, with the intention of killing the man who was sleeping inside.

Duplin County Fire Marshal Ricky Deaver said a fire broke out at 137 Glenn Wells Lane in Rose Hill around midnight on July 6.

It took three fire departments to knock down the blaze, but the man who had been sleeping inside made it out safely.

Now deputies said 49-year-old Edwin Quinn intended to kill that man by setting the fire.

Deputies confirmed with WITN that Quinn was arrested July 16th for four felony charges, including attempted first degree murder and arson. He is also charged with insurance fraud and burning personal property.

According to a check of Quinn's criminal record, he was convicted of drug possession in 2000.

Court calendars online show Quinn is due in court to face the four charges against him on December 12.
