UPDATE: Power Restored In Dare County

Dominion Power reports no outages in Dare County early Thursday. More than 5,400 people lost power Wednesday afternoon. Dominion Power blames an equipment failure.

Just before 9:00 p.m. Wednesday Dominion Power reported power had been restored to hundreds of customers in Dare County who had lights out for more than 4 hours. 3,225 customers were still without power as of 9:00 p.m. in the Manteo area after Dominion says there was an equipment failure.

Dominion Power says 5,417 customers are without power in the Manteo area in Dare County due to an equipment failure. The company says the outage is not weather related.

The power outage started about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and power was still out just before 7:00p.m.

Dominion says crews are working to fix the problem with a circuit and does not have an estimated time for restoration.
