The Dock Dogs national competition wrapped up in Washington as part of the final day of the East Carolina Wildlife Festival.

From labs to German shepherds, canines threw caution to the wind, charging head first off a dock and into a several yards long pool of water.

The Dock Dogs competition travels the country providing three different events for the pooches to test their mettle in: Big Air, Extreme Vertical, and Speed Retrieve.

Owners that entered their dogs say it all comes down to fun, and giving some of the hunting dogs a break from more disciplined tests.

"We were doing things that required him to be very specific -- the hunt tests, therapy, the service dog. All that required him to be very exact and I thought it would be fun to let him come out and be a dog, you know, just have some fun," said Ron Bennett, who was in from Virginia to compete with his dog Wheeler.
