Deputy's Gun And Badge Stolen Out Of Car In Greenville

A deputy's gun and badge is missing after his vehicle was broken into over the Thanksgiving holiday.

According to Greenville police reports it happened at 1625 Wimbledon Drive.

A Bertie County sheriff deputy's badge, his .40-caliber gun and some shirts were reported stolen from his personal car sometime between Wednesday and Thursday morning.

Sheriff John Holley says 24-year-old Brandon Cox was visiting friends in Greenville and didn't want to take his service revolver inside. Holley says Cox hid the badge and weapon inside his car.

Holley says it's unfortunate that these days even deputies can become victims.
