The Pitt County Sheriff's Office teamed up with the US Marshals Service for a three-day operation to make sure sex offenders are where they should be.
The operation checks the home addresses sex offenders give to make sure they are being truthful about where they say they're staying. On day 2 of the operation Wednesday, they were able to verify 163 of it's 233 sex offenders within the county. 14 were in the Pitt County Detention Center already, while 25 were in the Department of Corrections.
The operation continues through Thursday.
