Deputies Say Suspected Meth Lab May Be Involved With Fatal Fire

Onslow County deputies say a suspected meth lab may have been involved in a fatal fire this morning.

Fire crews were called to a mobile home at 150 Creative Lane, outside of Jacksonville, where a mobile home was on fire.

A man's badly burned body was found inside the home.

Deputies say a single bottle meth lab was discovered in the wood line near the burning mobile home, while the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

The SBI Arson Team was called into help local investigators. Right now investigators say they will use medical records to positively identify the victim.

Relatives who were called to the home says a 32-year-old man lives there.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are at a fatal fire in Onslow County this morning.

Sheriff deputies, the county fire marshal and the SBI arson team are at a home on Creative Lane. The road is currently blocked by crime scene tape.

The SBI says its agents were called to the fire at the request of the fire marshal. The county's emergency management coordinator says any information on the case must come from the Sheriff's Office.

A relative tells WITN that his cousin died in a mobile home fire. There is a mobile home behind the house in the pictures. The victim, according to the relative, was 32 years old.

Creative Lane is off Highway 53, about a mile past Southwest Elementary School.
