Farmville Man Charged With Two Armed Robberies, Kidnapping

A man was arrested Sunday, accused of holding up two Farmville area businesses this summer.

29-year-old Jerome Melton of Farmville is charged in Pitt County with robbery with a dangerous weapon and second degree kidnapping, while in Greene County he is facing a robbery with a dangerous weapon charge.

Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith says Melton was arrested for the August 13th armed robbery of Lewis' Food Market.

The man's family says he's also been charged for the August 19th hold-up at the China 1 Restaurant in Farmville.

Officials said Melton's bond was set at $75,000 ahead of his first court appearance, set for Monday.
