D.O.T. Crews Prepped For Possible Winter Weather

State highway crews say they were prepared for whatever Mother Nature may send our way.

At the Pitt County D.O.T. Maintenance Department on Belvoir Road their crews went in the stand-by stage Thursday night. The D.O.T. says unlike other storms, this one will be preceded by rain so they are not going to pre-treat major highways because it would simply wash away.

Plows and spreaders were attached to trucks, and there was plenty of salt available.

Along the I-95 corridor, the D.O.T. says crews were on standby overnight, ready to clear snow and take care of any icy spots.
