DEPUTIES: Man Used Old Pill Bottles For Their Drug Residue

By  |

A Washington man is facing charges for unique behavior. Deputies say he filled empty pill bottles with water in order to drink the drug residue.

Pitt County deputies accuse of Jeffrey Bell of Washington of taking empty pharmaceutical bottles from a recycling bin in Greenville, filling them with water, and then drinking down whatever controlled substance residue was in those bottles.

Detectives with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit saw Bell acting suspiciously last Thursday in a parking lot near Memorial Dr. and Airport Rd. Inside Bell's car, authorities say they found a big bag of empty pharmaceutical stock bottles for controlled substances and determined how Bell was using the bottles.

Bell was jailed on a $5,000 bond. He's charged with drug possession and maintaining a vehicle for the consumption of a controlled substance.
