Authorities say a dying Smithfield man told a detective that he killed a man who he claimed got him addicted to crack cocaine.
Johnston County deputies say Craig Baker made that admission after turning a gun on himself. He later died at a hospital.
The information about the shooting was in search warrants that were released Tuesday. Authorities said Baker claimed he shot 32-year-old Lucas Lorenzo Benton of Four Oaks "because he got him addicted to crack."
Authorities were called to Baker's home on Friday afternoon. They found Benton dead in the yard and Baker lying on top of a trailer.
