The search is on for the person who shot a Craven County man in his own home early Friday morning.

Captain Joe Heckman with the Craven County Sheriff's Office tells WITN deputies got a call to 1330 Southwest Craven Middle School Road around 2 a.m. Friday.

According to Heckman, 38-year-old Leo Mitchel was shot in his own home.

Mitchel was taken to Vidant Medical Center where deputies said he is in stable condition.
