DEPUTIES: Woman & Her Dogs Fight Off Attacker

Deputies say a Pitt County woman was forced back into her home last night by a man who made her swallow three pills. She says her dogs helped get the attacker outside.

It happened on Joe Gardner Road outside of Grifton shortly after midnight.

Captain Paula Dance says the woman was bringing her dogs back into her house when the man came in behind her. The woman, who had three children inside under the age of 12, was able to fight him off, with the help of her dogs.

Dance says there's no description of the attacker because his face was covered. They are awaiting toxicology tests to determine exactly what the three pills were that the woman took.
