Deputies say three people are possibly responsible for more than 60 vehicle break-ins in just one Eastern Carolina county, all to help support their drug addictions.
Onslow County deputies have charged Calvin Roman, 20, of Midway Park, Jamel Brown, 23, of Midway Park, and Manuel Mejia, 19, of Jacksonville with multiple counts of breaking and entering, conspiracy, and larceny.
The theft ring has been operating for more than seven months, and deputies say they have identified more than 40 people who had their vehicles broken into in Onslow County. Deputies say Jacksonville police and Camp Lejeune have other cases that have been tied to the trio.
Deputies say the men told them they were stealing the stuff to support their heroin addictions.
In all of the cases the vehicles were left unlocked.
