DEPUTIES: Drug Deal Leads To Woman Shot

Deputies say a drug deal led to a shooting at a restaurant in Wayne County.

Deputies have charged Ron Coley of Dudley with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

They say the 29-year-old Coley was to meet a couple at the Huddle House on U.S. 117 South for a drug transaction. An argument led to Meta Ann McCall being shot. She was first taken to Wayne Memorial and later transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Deputies say they seized a handgun, but could not locate any drugs.

Coley is jailed on a $102,000 bond.
