DEPUTIES: Alcohol Appears To Be Contributing Factor In Stabbing

Deputies say alcohol use by the victim and suspect appears to have been a contributing factor in a stabbing Sunday night in Beaufort County.

Deputies say they got the call around 10:00 p.m. for a fight on Baker Drive, outside of Washington.

The victim, who hasn't been identified, was stabbed in the abdomen.

Jose Lavastida of Marion was later arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

The 41-year-old was jailed on a $200,000 bond, while deputies say the victim is expected to make a full recovery at Vidant Medical Center.
