Crewmember Dead, 9 Others Awaiting Rescue On Luxury Catamaran

An air crew from the Coast Guard station in Elizabeth City is en route to a luxury catamaran that's in distress, southeast of Bermuda.

The Coast Guard says nine people are aboard the 109-foot "Mouse Trap", some 500 miles southeast of Bermuda. The crew says the catamaran was in distress after losing its mast and that one crew member was dead.

In addition to the HC-130 Hercules from Elizabeth City, two nearby ships are headed to the catamaran's location where there were 9-foot seas reported.
