The Highway Patrol has identified a teenager who was critically injured in a crash this weekend.
Katlyn Smith of Cove City is now in fair condition at Vidant Medical Center after Sunday's accident.
Troopers say the 16-year-old was driving a vehicle that was headed west on Highway 55 around 8:30 a.m. and ran off the right side of the highway. It struck a concrete driveway culvert, returned to the highway and then hit a tree. The car landed on its top.
The Highway Patrol says charges are pending in the accident.

The driver of a car was critically injured in a crash Sunday morning near Cove City in Craven County.

The driver, who hasn't been identified yet, was taken to Vidant Medical Center with critical injuries.
