Cracker Barrel says it's had second thoughts about coming to the Bear City.
New Bern city officials say the popular restaurant chain has changed its mind about building a location at the New Bern Mall.
The city says Cracker Barrel cited the cost of the project for the change in plans, including prepping the location next to the Chil-Fil-A.
New Bern says the owners of the mall say the southeast corner of their property is a prime site for development and they are confident another tenant will be found.
Cracker Barrel has locations in Greenville, Jacksonville, Rocky Mount, Roanoke Rapids and Wilson here in Eastern Carolina.
