Convicted Sex Offender Convicted Of Removing Monitoring Device

A convicted sex offender from Craven County has been found guilty of removing his satellite based monitoring device.

Probation officers say when they tried to arrest 45-year-old Maurice Lewis of New Bern for removing the device, he ran and wasn't found for several months.

Lewis has been sentenced to 6 to 8 years in prison.

He was previously convicted of second-degree rape in 2004.
