Two Arrested After Cocaine, Marijuana Found In Vanceboro Home

Deputies in Craven County are crediting a recent drug bust with some watchful neighbors who reported suspicious activity.

Captain Joe Heckman with the Craven County Sheriff's Office said people in the area of 8925 River Road told them there was the potential of drug trafficking surrounding that home. After further investigation, deputies said they got a warrant and took a closer look.

Once inside, Captain Heckman said narcotics investigators found cocaine, pot, drug paraphernalia, an an undisclosed amount of cash in the River Road home.

They also found Charles Mitchell and charged him with a handful of drug offenses. Mitchell was put in jail under a $10,00 bond. Jail records showed the 31-year-old had bonded out of jail by Friday morning.

Johnnie Nelson was also charged for drug offenses. His bond was set at $5,000. Jail records showed the 55-year-old was still in custody as of Friday morning.
