Coast Guard Rescues Two After Shrimp Boat Runs Aground

Two people on a shrimp boat had to be rescued this morning by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard says two people were aboard the "Mary Elizabeth" when it ran aground on Shackleford Banks early this morning.

Because of weather conditions they were unable to tow the boat off the banks, so the Coast Guard sent a helicopter from Elizabeth City to get the two people off the boat.

No one was injured and the Coast Guard says it will be up to the boat owner to figure out how to get it off the banks.
